Lending/Helping/Hands – Supporting Hackney City Farm

We recently held our first charity event this autumn, volunteering for two days at Hackney City Farm, which provides valuable services to the local community.

SUPPORTING HACKNEY CITY FARM

With the majority of the W/R/B Underwriting team finally returning to the office this autumn, we are pleased to once again begin our in-person charity initiatives and team events, with the first of these being ‘Come Farm With Me’.

Taking place from October 12th – 14th at Hackney City Farm, the event involved 25 volunteers from our team. Over the course of two days, they assisted with duties such as compost turning, nettle clearing, mucking out, cleaning and more. At W/R/B Underwriting, we encourage volunteering, and working together as a team to achieve our goals – this all comes down to our core behaviours for success, including collaboration and resilience.

The event was a great opportunity to learn about the farm and the invaluable and varied services that it offers to the local community. Volunteers were given a tour and discovered its various social enterprises and learned in detail how it’s able to support groups in the community. Hackney City Farm also aims to be a centre for environmental improvement, which inspired our team members.

Both days were a great success; it was an opportunity to reconnect with the team and to meet some new joiners to W/R/B, all in some glorious October sunshine!
