Working together to help those in need
At W/R/B Underwriting, we are committed to actively volunteering and working together as a team to achieve our goals – this all comes down to our core values, including collaboration and resilience being key pillars for success.
With this in mind, as an organisation we recently challenged ourselves to cover the distance between Land’s End and John O’Groats, and back – a total of 2,814 km! In completing this challenge we would be raising much needed money for Southwark Foodbank which is part of The Trussell Trust network of foodbanks across the UK.
In order to chip away at this 2,814 km target, employees could run, walk, or cycle, with each measuring their progress as they went. We split all participants into teams, with one Executive Team member assigned per team to act as ‘team leaders’.
We are pleased to announce that we not only achieved our target, but far exceeded it – covering a total distance of approximately 7,772 km and raising £5,534 via our Just Giving page. We also received a matching donation from W. R. Berkley Syndicate Management Limited , bringing the combined total to £8,187.41. Special mentions should be made to Alastair Blades’ team who covered the greatest distance, and Jacqui Hedges’ team who raised the most money.
We received this kind message from The Trussell Trust:
“Thank you so much W/R/B Underwriting – with your support, we can build a future where nobody needs to go without the basics, this Christmas and beyond.”
Given the success of the challenge and the general sentiment amongst our team, we will be participating in future challenges that will allow us to raise money for worthy causes and collaborate together to achieve our goals.
Pictured to the right are some highlights of the team during the challenge. We’d like to thank all those who kindly donated, and of course our fantastic W/R/B Underwriting team who participated.
